The Newsroom - Why America is NOT the greatest country in the world.
First step in solving any problem is realizing there is one.
I wish that everyone would please watch this video. No matter where you’re from.
I haven’t heard something this awesome since I first heard Chaplin’s speech from “The Great Dictator”.
An amazing, passionate, well-informed speech that many people, all over the world, need to hear.
Because, it’s not just America. Every country’s kow-towing to these ideas that the best populace is an ill-informed populace, kept low, with little mobility. You hold incarceration above them like a legendary Sword of Damocles, let them fear what should be there to make them safe. That intelligence is dangerous, that patriotism is powerful and questioning is pointless.
We’re failing the poor, the needy, the disabled both of body and mind. And we expect the next generation to do fine without any support or decent education, because that’s we think we had - and yet simultaneously know deep down we did. The world is, putting it mildly, a fucking shambles.
And really, it’s because we treasure divisiveness and identifying with a concept more than we value a collaborative effort to do anything.
