Topps' Marvel Hero Attax: who made these numbers...
So, here in the UK, Topps trading cards have released a series for Marvel called Hero Attax. Basically, there’s 200 regular cards and 30 limited editions (15 each for the Thor and Captain America movies), each with a star rating (out of 5) and 2 stats: attack and defence. Simple.
But the stats seem to have been utterly pulled out their asses. I mean, in the standard cards, the strongest...

I'm not mad! My mother had me tested!
Adding a little “Big Bang Theory” in there to cement my geekery.
thedailywhat:
Sign Of The Times of the Day: A 59-year-old North Carolina man with several serious medical problems, including an undiagnosed growth, informed the teller at an RBC Bank in Gastonia that he was committing an unarmed robbery. His demands: 1 dollar and three years in prison.
James Verone told Charlotte’s WCNC-TV that he was unemployed and broke, and thought his only option was to go...

Adventures in Minecraft: big house!
So, after building the rock sphere fort, I decided I needed another base. A… bigger base. Above a mineshaft. So I could dig down and find better materials. I had a scout about in-play, and spotted a few hillsides - but quite a distance away, and not big or flat enough for what I wanted. I’d have to make one if I wanted it to be fully suitable…
So, in MCEdit (which I’m now...

I've realised what it is that I feel Minecraft...
Something that allows me to see into the distance. A telescope, say, be it fixed point (ie, on a stand and placed) or handheld (and used like the map). I have a tendency to spend nights pre-bed watching from a safe point all the zombies, skeletons etc, but with the way night and lighting works your view is very limited. Heck, even when the sun rises, viewing distance isn’t easy.
So, how...

More adventures in mining - now with 80% less...
Yes, I still died to one since. But only one!
Well, I started this game with the caveat “I will not INVEdit my inventory, all materials must be found”. And I have stuck by that. MCEdit use, though, that I’m allowing…
MCEdit is a “chunk editor” for Minecraft, that allows you to take your world (or indeed a blank one) and modify the blocks it is made of. For...

Restarting Minecraft - good idea, bad idea...
So, earlier today I logged back into my longest used Minecraft world. And I looked around, seeing my cave-side house, the treehouse watchpoint, all my diamond gear, and I thought…
Man, I really want to start again, and this time not use INVEdit to give myself a ton of good stuff to start.
And so, foolishly… I did. I started with nothing, ran to a nearby copse of trees, and starting...

Terrible Silent Hill news out of E3 →
wilwheaton:
Well this is crap news. The Silent Hill games, long known for their great music are getting post-Helmet chunka-chunka s#!t-rockers and future white trash county fair revival act Korn on board for a song to be in Silent Hill: Downpour. Hell, maybe for the next Castlevania game they can get the Insane Clown Posse to “lend their sound and voice” to that game.
I don’t have a strong...

E3: what we know of the Big 3 now
So, the important bit of E3 is over: the console platform owners have spoken, and shown their path into the future. What have we learned?
Microsoft
In a word: Kinect. They showed the promise, people bought it in droves; now it’s about delivering products to use it. As such, they doled out company rep after company rep to say “hey, we support and love Kinect, and this is how...

Huh...
I never noticed until now, but I appear to have two random followers (by which I refer to the alphanumeric jumble that is their tag) who constantly post random illustrations of Jesus.
Well, that’s certainly odd.

It's the most wonderful time of the year...
In about 20 minutes as I type this, the Microsoft press conference will get E3 properly started, beginning an epic 4 day festival of game announcements. It’s also 45 minutes until Apple’s annual WWDC, announcing the release of the new iOS 5 for iPhone and iPad as well as their new streaming service (iCloud) and new Mac OS X (10.7 Lion).
There’s already been leaks; a Live...
