Things that amaze me on a daily basis.
1. Comments such as this:
“Why is that state involved in the medical industry in any form?”
I’ll make it simple. They are there, because you put them there. It is their job to do “the will of the people”. I would imagine “the people” will it very much that they stay alive. As such, they need to be involved in the medical industry, as it supplies the very...
Had to reblog it...
Can you imagine if it actually happened, and how embarrassed they’d be? ^_^

A quick note of solidarity
To those doing pro-choice Walk For Choice marches wherever today: I won’t be there physically, but I’m behind you all the way.
An abortion isn’t a murder. It prevents deaths, prevents the illegal backstreet alternatives, and isn’t the option for eveyone, but should still BE an option. This isn’t about killing babies, or not knowing how to use contraception, this is...

I love you, Anonymous.
So, a while ago, the Westboro Baptist Church claimed it received a letter, from Anonymous, saying they were aiming to take them down. Their response was… uncivil. What made this more amusing was, well… Anonymous totally denied it, basically saying “we have bigger fish to fry” (hacktivism to benefit freedom, by keeping the tubes full of cats).
The response? Go on a chat...

Avaaz petition: Freezing Mubarak's Money
So, I just signed the Avaaz petition to the G20 members to freeze Mubarak’s assets for the sake of Egypt and its people. Couldn’t really say “well gosh, I’ve found this whole thing very interesting, but nah, let him keep his cash”, could I?

This is the same Iran many of us on the Mongol Rally 2011 are planning to pass through, yes? Erk…

The first world problems of the internet
I really should stop poking the lumps and bumps of the internet, but I just can’t help myself.
Today’s foray started with catching a tweet about @kirbybits’ analysis of the troll comments on her blog. Now, I looked through it and thought, “that’s an effective collation of data”. The wife, however, looked at it and said “well yeah, but so what?”
I...
As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded...
– Found in the Treaty of Tripoli, 1797 — sort of debunks the idea held by many Conservatives that the United States was founded on Christian principles. (via producermatthew)
And there it is, quoted from print. SO STOP USING RELIGION AS A CRUTCH, RIGHT WING AMERICA.

#Dickwolves: to cast it out of me, closing...
(To anyone asking “why no trigger warning?” Well, if you found this, surely you know what follows.)
Right, the saga is long, but there is a summary. That isn’t what this post is for: this is to get it out of my head, sum it up for me, and move on.
Right, from the top: why this has happened, as it has.
The start point is the comic. I’ve not met anyone, outside the main...
On sexism, rape, and usage of terms.
It’s been a hectic time for these really touchy subjects lately.
Here in the UK, we have the Gray/Keys sexism storm. In summary: video leaked to press of Grays and Keys, Sky Sports football pundits, talking some sexist smack about a female linesman, and later even more footage leaks revealing even more sexist quips etc. made by the two. This one is interesting, and why is part of the...
