Mongol Rally 2011: Please Read
Right, feel like now’s a good time to fill people in a little more. Me and a friend are taking part in the Mongol Rally 2011. This means grabbing a cheap, probably beat up 1.2l or smaller 02 reg or newer car, and driving it across the globe 8000+ miles from London UK to Ulaanbataar Mongolia. Along the way, we have to raise £500 for two charities. The Christina Noble Children’s...

A little unveiling
So, this is the temporary look of my new project. Yes, that’s correct, I’m doing the Mongol Rally 2011, with a friend of mine. No, I can’t drive, he can. No, we don’t have a car yet. Or visas, equipment, all the other stuff we need. That’s the fun of it! Those Just Giving links are for donations to our charities; as you can see, we need to raise £500 for each as...

Here comes a new challenge!
So, tomorrow, I will be putting together part one of what promises to be a great adventure. I’m not telling all now - that is, after all, what I’m doing tomorrow - but this is just here to make people aware to watch out tomorrow. All I’ll say for now is: I mean adventure, and it’ll take a lot of planning.

It's taken less than a year...
…And already I can’t open enough tabs to post article links for this post. Yes, our ConDem alliance has picked up a lot of heat in this “austerity drive of theirs. How much heat, and why? There’s the benefit cuts, sold to the public as “cutting the scroungers loose and getting them back into work”. Only problem is, most of them can’t go back to work,...

An awesome moment.
So, tonight, it was a pretty clear sky here. Few wispy clouds, that’s all. So, about 7:45pm, me and Jack set off to work. We went into the attic, turned off the lights, propped the skylight open… and set up his little telescope. After a bit of fiddling, focusing and altering the lens, I shuffled away from the lens, and let him look at the moon’s surface for the first time...

I have another blog
It’s right here, and chronicles the amazing stuff I hear or see on a daily basis, as I realise I’m surrounded by people in a cultural vacuum. That’s all.

Small aside: point proven.
So, I wrote earlier about the awful shooting in the US, and how the right is distancing itself heavily. Well, now one of Palin’s people has come out and, get this - claimed that those are SURVEYOR’S sights, not gun sights. What makes this claim amazing is, well… Palin already disproved that. Again, accountability, backtracking, denial, distancing. Fringe ideas. Bullshit,...

Accountability: it has to work every way.
So, I’m pretty sure everybody knows by now, D-AZ Representative Gabrielle Giffords has been shot, and 6 others killed, in an attack by a gunman during a public meeting. Why does a bloke from the UK care? Because, having watched it unfold, I’ve watched an interesting ripple form: the speed at which people have pointed to Sarah Palin and her “take back the 20” campaign, and...
